"On the nose" means exactly what it sounds like... when you write everything - EVERYTHING - into a scene, when you can summarise it. :)

Trust your readers. They can figure things out. They're not dummies. :)

And speaking of which, I'd better get a move on and finish my latest chapter - and I have two hours and a bit to do it. I can do it! ;)
