LOL! Yes, it is sobering, but I actually felt relief because it's validation to my method.
I also watched somewhere a video where an editor spoke of Hemmingway's editing process. First, you look for the biggest chunk of text you can delete, like a whole chapter then you work your way down to a paragraph you can delete, then a sentence, then a word. Fascinating. There was more, I'll try and find it.
