It is hard to find suitable locations for this without creating new top level boards, which I am not keen to do.

It may resolve some of the members problems with privacy if you do.

Another option is to hide the previous (restricted visibility) forums so that mods or even admins only could see them. That way, they don't clutter the forum structure for most members. Obviously their content would also not be accessible to most members, but admins could access it if need be.

Alternatively, the problematic restricted-visibility forums could be simply deleted.

I'm not advocating either of these options, but just raising them for consideration.

One of the few things that a forum such as this can offer over the likes of facebook is privacy, so I think it needs to be treated carefully.

I like that idea but is there some way to show you are in a privacy thread? I get confused easy and i forget if a thread is private or not (part of brain injury) - like I can't recall if this is private or not. I could scroll up and look but that's hard for my limited dexterity . Maybe the background colour? Say blue for everyone and green for private or vice versa. Something easy on the eyes? Sorry if that's too much to ask - only a consideration if easy to do. Otherwise ignore me :) I can manage.

That's a great idea! The colours could be aligned with those used for the various ranks (regulars, moderators, etc).

Unfortunately, the forum software doesn't seem to have the ability to do this by default, but there may be an extension that allows it.

I am close to getting ready to do a full review of all of this and discuss some ways forward.

I have now moved "Current Writing Projects & Published Works" in to the "social" forum and updated the link. This means that this is now public but "Personal Journeys" can stay as members only.

I think this should keep everybody happy.
