Thanks again, Joss! If there's any surplus, I'll be sure to hand it over to the new CFO.

Thanks for the background and information. I didn't even know we had that button.

I think ads "might" help but this would need to be a decision that is made with the members and the new administrator.

Here is the previous discussion about advertising, FWIW. Obviously decisions made at the time need no longer apply.

Thanks for that Peter. I suspect that given most of those who posted at the time are not active on here we can have a fresh discussion about it, once it is agreed to by all as to who should take over. This could be more than one person in a joint role.

Thanks Betty. I am happy to but want the support of the other moderators (which I have) and the membership as a whole before committing to do this :)

I'm fine with advertising as long as it's not annoying. I can't stand those pages where there's ad pop ups every 5 seconds. (wow head I'm looking at you :P )

Thanks for the feedback. I suspect we might look at testing these in the future.

From my point of view, there's no urgency. If it takes months, that's fine.

>>>The financial side. We have yearly running costs which need to be met. Until now Peter has been covering these himself with assistance from donations. I am not in a position to take on these myself totally but I am happy to assist with this if another member can take on the responsibility for making these payments.

Please each consider what you can do to help with either of the above needs. Any questions, comments or concerns, please post them.
>>>

This suggestion may seem to way out or too difficult to implement but you did say to post any ideas.

I wondered if initiating an Australian Writers Forum Awards may help.

I'm thinking purely of an online award, for whatever strand the members are involved with, or the board decides upon to award.

A nominal fee for members to put submit a piece of their work for consideration in whatever categories are considered valid, and a higher fee for non-members to do the same.

I can imagine that among the membership there should be at least a few members who would consider nominating as judges for the various categories.

Perhaps the awards could also feature an on-line image of the '2016-17 AWF Award for ----' that if writers felt that it could help, then they could download the image and attach it to their work in the event that they seek publication as another method of attracting attention in the morass of the publishing world.

That is an interesting idea. What do we all think?
