With my apologies, this issue has still not been resolved.

Unfortunately, for testing purposes, you may see (and be notified of) test posts to this topic made by user 'pmc'. 'pmc' is a test account that our hosting company (VentraIP), and Cloudflare, are using to troubleshoot the problem. If you see, or are notified of, any posts from 'pmc', please ignore them.

Minor update: our hosting company had been able to duplicate the problem and has acknowledged that it is a known issue. It's now escalated up to their level 3 technicians.

The problem seems to be associated with the use of the Cloudflare caching system. To help with diagnosis, the host technicians and I will need to turn Cloudflare on and off sometimes. As a result, this site may work perfectly sometimes and be a PITA at other times. To be safe, consider drafting non-trivial posts in a word processor or text editor, and paste them in to the forum. That way, humanity won't lose your brilliant insights even if this system does.

I apologise about these ongoing problems, but I can assure you that we're getting looked after well. It's a hard problem.

Hmm... I've just logged in to see if I can look at things and respond. It seems that things are back to normal. *crosses fingers*

No more 502 errors! Huzzah! :D *does a little dance* ;)

The hosting company has asked me to re-enable Cloudflare (the problematic component) to help them with their investigations. This could mean more problems in the short term. Please report any issues; it could help! If you can't post a message or PM, the contact form should work.

Hmm... I haven't tried recently, but I'm logged in now and all seems to be well. Let's hope, eh? *crosses fingers*

Unfortunately, it's probably working now because I begged the hosting company to allow me to bypass Cloudflare while they're thinking about it.

That said, I conducted a little experiment overnight that seems to have worked. If so, it might narrow down the cause of the problem.

I do apologise for this mess again. It's really killed site traffic. :(

I was getting an error message every time I tried to open a new notification. It's working again now.
