Re: The difference between using adjectives and not

It's a hard and tough lesson, and the toughest bit is when and where to put them back in (especially in a blurb, where they do the duty as requested!).

POV and First Pages

From Jane Friedman's site: https://www.janefriedman.com/deadliest-first-page-sin/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+JaneFriedman+%28Jane+Friedman%29 Although I don't like or use omniscient or narrator (unless the narrator is as good as the discworld stories), this is...

Re: Interesting product review

Thanks Terence (who is Terence?). Even while I'm still learning things, figuring out as I go, it's so much better than having notes in folders, links in docs, Word crashing at the most inconvenient time/s, a desk space crammed with 'stuff' and a storyboard or two behind me trying to keep up with the...

Re: Interesting product review

I got Scrivener for NaNo, used it, bought it 50% off 'cos I 'won' NaNo (wrote and published a story), and now have all my notes where I can find them - and all in the same place for the same story. No mix-ups between mss. So much less stress. So much easier to plan and structure (even if it still ch...

Re: Interesting product review

I think that's going to be me, too. It's a bit of a learning curve, but definitely worth it (still working on the export thingy, but I'm new). However, Word does give me the capability to do the 'clean-up' things - like the bookmarks and styles and [other stuff], and it's a little easier to use (at ...

Re: Interesting product review

problem with post - seems to have lost the first half! And now I can't remember most of it. oh, yes - epubs created by sw. Issues: using styles for chapter headings to ensure enough space between end of prev chapter and new one. If there are two blank lines, it can create a whole blank page. Always ...

Re: Interesting product review

continued ... A very important thing that made me change was the instability of Word with large docs. I still use Word to upload to the various sites for publication and their conversion, but I ALWAYS save the document as Word 97 (more stable) and ALWAYS check that there are no hidden bookmarks. Any...
