Re: Referencing for a non fiction book

'Referencing' is not the same thing as 'quoting' (copying). Especially in non-fiction, you should include a reference for everything you quote (or allude to), regardless of how small the extract is and whether you quote verbatim or paraphrase. The reference says where you got it from and should idea...

Re: Closure of the forum

You will all notice I am now just back to a normal, regular member. Don't expect me around any more much. Even though I'm not a writer any more, let me tell you a little story. (Then you'll probably see why I'm not a writer any more!) About six months ago, when I was AWF's sole administrator, I ann...

Re: Closure of the forum

...A copy to plagerise would be great! The guts of the rules page is now here . Ignore the errors; they're happening because that page relies on other stuff that I didn't upload. Since you're the official site owner—and are paying the bills—you can change the rules as you see fit. If you want to kn...

Re: Closure of the forum

I'll leave that for you and Paul to negotiate. It might be prudent to wait until the decision about the fate of the forum has been made.

I can probably find a back-up copy of the previous page for you to plagiarise ;) if that would help.

I was asked to delete all of the non-forum web pages, such as the rules, resources, writing challenge submissions, etc.

Re: Closure of the forum

My thoughts are irrelevant because I've wimped out, but FWIW... I think the way forward, if any, is not by current members posting more, but by attracting many more newbies. We used to get 7-12 every week (not counting the spammers); now it's a trickle (as Rachel said). Attracting newbies can't be d...

Re: Posts

An issue I found is that most members disappear after a while (as I have!). Ergo, it's necessary to pull in active new members at the same rate at which current members become inactive—and preferably greater. I found this to be very time-consuming and difficult. I guess I'm saying this to warn again...

Re: [Admins!] Search Boolean?

Did you try 'Advanced Search'?
https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... _advanced/

ASA was listed in the relevant AWF resources page, but those have been taken down.

Re: MazzaE - deactivated

That'll work. I used to get a bit of spam from that, which is why I turned it off. The phpBB developers got complaints from a lot of ppl about the spam, so hopefully they've tightened it up a bit now.
